WCAB Utilizes “LIFESIZE” Web Application For Hearings
The COVID-19 Pandemic has caused delays in taking testimony in California workers’ compensation trials since “in-person” testimony has not been possible since March of 2020.
The WCAB has been at the forefront of keeping cases moving along, even conducting trials by telephone.
In Oranje vs Crestwood Behavior Health (2017 Cal.Wrk.Comp P.D. LEXIS 392), the WCAB affirmed the Worker’s Compensation Judges order allowing the out of state applicant to testify remotely.
The LIFESIZE web application was used for the trial.
Since we may not see the inside of a courtroom for the rest of the year (or longer), the time has come to get familiar with remote viewing technology such as LIFESIZE. https://www.lifesize.com/en/
Downloading an application is just the beginning. Proper courtroom attire (pants too!), the type of background you have (Maui is beautiful, but not during trial), and cutting out the background noise are all considerations too.
Welcome to the brave new world. It will be great to see everyone again.
